Brad Rigden Information

Brad Rigden is the son of Economist, Physicist, and Capital Markets specialist, Paul Rigden and the grandson of Dr Philip Rigden PhD.

Brad Rigden grew up in South Africa where he attended Michaelhouse and thereafter, before reading law, economics and computer science at university, he served in the South African Military. He emigrated to the United Kingdom in 2003 where he joined London-based Canon Europe subsidiary, Fotango.

At Fotango, Rigden co-developed the Borg expert system which the company used to underpin its pioneering Zimki 'serverless computing' platform. Zimki, along with Amazon's S3 proposition debuted in March 2006. These simultaneous innovations essentially kickstarted the cloud computing era.

In 2006, Rigden joined Siemens where he continued in the 'utility computing' sphere by designing and managing the managed data storage portfolio which underpinned several British public, as well as private sector organisations' services. Major consumers included amongst others, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), National Savings & Investments, the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (now Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency).

In 2014, Rigden joined Worldpay, one of the United Kingdom's first and most successful FinTech companies (now a subsidiary of FIS). There he supported the payments innovator through its post-divestment separation from the Royal Bank of Scotland and later through its multi-billion-dollar IPO.

In 2019, Rigden joined Royal Sun Alliance (RSA), among the UK's oldest and largest insurance carriers as its Chief Technology Officer.

Since leaving RSA, Rigden has consulted for several Venture Capital and Private Equity concerns in order to support innovators and incubators embrace innovation in the FinTech sphere. This includes harnessing the value of Artificial Intelligence, Distributed Ledger Technologies as well as industrialising platforms and propositions within the Embedded Finance arena.

In addition to Web3 innovation within the FinTech sphere, Rigden is among those consulting and working with industry stakeholders and thought leaders towards Web4 opportunities.
